VA Group’s Musical Tribute Salutes Troops

As a tribute to soldiers, patients and staff, a vocal and woodwind ensemble of the Veterans Affairs National Medical Musical Group performed a patriotic noon-hour concert Tuesday in the Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s dining facility.

The group consists of a large orchestra and chorus that performs twice a year – on Flag Day and Veterans Day. It is comprised of volunteers from around the country, most of whom work at VA medical centers.

The group was formed in the early 1990s and performs each Flag Day week in Washington and at a different part of the country each Veterans Day.

Along with performing at WRAMC, the small group perforrmed this week of Flag Day – the Army’s birthday – at the National Naval Medical Center at the newly dedicated National World War II Memorial. The highlight of the week was a concert of the VA National Medical Musical Group on Capitol Hill, yesterday.
